- Mary had just received news from the Angel, Gabriel, that she would give birth to the Messiah.
- She was a virgin so at first "Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” (Luke 1:34)
- The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)
- I love Mary's response, “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”
- In other words, "Whatever you've got for me God, I want it!
- Despite the fact that people were not going to understand...
- Despite how this would appear to others...
- Despite the problems this would cause her...
- She said, "May your word be fulfilled."
- I wonder if you can say that?
- When His Word doesn't make sense.
- When his plan doesn't look like your plan.
- When you know His Word will literally flip your world upside down!
- Can you say, like Mary, “I am the Lord’s servant, May your word to me be fulfilled"?(V.38)
- This reminds me of Psalm 100:3, which says "Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people..."
- The Psalmist is saying, You are God and I am not. You made me and I am completely yours!
- Can you say that?
- Can you say, today, that no matter what His will looks like, you want it and receive it?
- Even if it messes up all of your best laid out plans?
- Even if you will lose friends because of it?
- Even if it will cause you discomfort?
- Even if it leads you in a different direction than the way you were going?
- Maybe that can be our prayer this morning.
- If you want all that God has for you, then say to Him, "God, please reveal to me your plans, and I will walk in it."
- I pray that you will have the courage and boldness to step into all that He has for you.
- May Gods Word be fulfilled in your life today!
- Have a great Wednesday!
