- God wants you experience His cleansing and for you to live a guilt free life.
- A few days ago, one of my kids was taking a bath before they went to bed.
- After they had washed and got all of the dirt and grime off of their, I helped dry them off and wrapped them in a clean dry towel.
- I love that moment after they are washed and wrapped in a towel and you get to hold them tight.
- They are completely clean and smell good too.
- As I look back in the water, it is nasty - full of all the dirt that had just been removed.
- Although many times they want to jump back in the tub, I would never put them back in that water.
- They are clean, and I want them to remain that way for a little while.
- In this Psalm, David is asking God to cleanse him from his blatant sin.
- David had taken another mans wife and committed adultery.
- And as if that wasn't bad enough, he had her husband murdered.
- His sin was obvious and gross.
- He could have let that sin and guilt remain and destroy the rest of his life.
- He had every reason to live depressed and full of shame.
- He could have decided to "sit in the water" of guilt and shame.
- Instead, he chooses to call on the Lord and His mercy.
- He cries out to our God who's love is unfailing!
- He makes the choice to repent.
- He acknowledges his sin, turns from it and receives the forgiveness of the Lord.
- In verse 7 he says, "Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow."
- He is saying, once I receive your grace and mercy, I will be a brand new person.
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, that "anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"
- Jesus offers you a spiritual cleansing today.
- He wants to make you a brand new person.
- Do you need to experience God's unfailing love today?
- Have you been living in guilt and shame?
- Do you need His forgiveness?
- There is no sin to great or small that he cannot forgive.
- In verse 8, David cries out, "give me back my joy again; you have broken me—now let me rejoice."
- Get your joy back, this morning.
- Live clean and guilt free!
- Start today new!
- Choose to live new!
- Have a great Monday!
