Isaiah 43:19
- What can you see?
- Can you see what God sees, for your life?
- I learned a very important lesson here in Louisiana.
- If you can't let go of the past, you will never be able to grab ahold of Gods future!
- I witnessed an older man who had gone through the shock and dramatic trauma of losing everything.
- And I mean everything!
- He had 9 feet of water in his house!
- That means that there were things in his house that floated to the top and then eventually ended up somewhere else on the bottom of his house.
- It was a mess!
- Everything had been under water.
- He even had a dryer that ended up on top of his washer machine... And it wasn't made that way.
- It was a lot to absorb.
- Everything was gone.
- There was so much mud and mess that everything was destroyed.
- And as we cleaned out the house and carried things to the curb, he would stop the wheel barrel and root through old wet papers and tell us he needed to keep them.
- Old ruined appliances, clothes, couches, magazines and furniture.
- Trying to keep everything that he could when it was clearly time to let it go.
- It was once good and useful but now the same thing, if not released, will become harmful.
- That's a hard concept to accept.
- In this scripture God says, "For I am about to do something new."
- But this is preceded by verse 18, which says, ““But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.”
- "Forget all that"... Forget what?
- The past!
- That's powerful!
- It's not that the past wasn't good or wasn't useful.
- Not at all... Your past had a purpose!
- But God says, "It is nothing compared to what I am going to do.”
- If you can't let go of your past, you will never receive His future!
- What He has for your future is incredible but you can't even see it because you are still mourning the past.
- You are still stuck in the "good ol' days."
- And if you don't let go, you will still be in the same place 10 years from now.
- But God wants to take you new places and experience new adventures!
- He says that He is going to create rivers in the dry wasteland.
- He is going to make life in the dead places of your life!
- Rivers speak of life!
- Wasteland is, of course, death.
- He will bring real life to the dead places of your life!
- Can you see it?
- So hear is the big question, what do you need to let go of?
- What dead thing of the past have you been holding onto that needs to be replaced with His Life?
- Today, let go!
- Let go, in order to make room for His new thing that He has planned for you!
- He's about to do something new. See, He's already begun!
- Today can be your day of new beginnings!
- God bless you, have a great Weekend!
