- This verse was referring to a time when Israel had sinned against God and judgment was inevitable.
- This is Amos’ appeal to the people to turn back to God so that at least a remnant could be saved.
- And here is the key: “Seek the Lord and Live!”
- He says, don’t even seek places of worship or things that you consider spiritual acts of worship. He simply says, “Seek the Lord and Live!”
- That’s the Key!
- No matter where you find yourself this morning, whether you are close to God or far from Him, take this verse to heart!
- Seek the Lord and Live!
- If you take that verse and do it, it will change your life!
- To seek Him means to search diligently for Him and regard Him as more essential than even food.
- Get in His Word and pray with Him.
- It’s what Jesus meant, when He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind”(Luke 10:27)
- He has to be the most important thing in your life!
- That’s what it means to make Him Lord!
- He has to be supreme!
- You have to give him ownership of your thoughts, you actions, your desires and words... essentially everything that you do and all that you are!
- When you seek Him, He will come in with His presence and meet with you.
- Look at what Jesus says to the church in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door [of the church] and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him (restore him), and he with Me.”
- He’s knocking right now!
- Do you hear Him, or are you to busy?
- Open the door!
- Repent and turn from your way and return to Him.
- Respond to His knocking.
- His desire is not for you to experience judgment but for you to be forgiven and restored.
- Don’t miss another moment of His presence.
- Seek Him and Live!
- Have a great Monday!
“This is what the LORD says to Israel: “Seek me and live;” (Amos 5:4)
