- Martha had welcomed Jesus into her home.
- As she prepared a big meal for Jesus, Mary sat at Jesus' feet listening to Him.
- There is no doubt that both Mary and Martha loved Jesus.
- Both of them desired to honor Jesus as their guest.
- But verse 39 says, "Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing."
- She was "Distracted".
- Somehow the distraction had become more important that spending time with her Savior.
- For Martha "Doing" had become more important than "Being"(Being in His Presence)
- Jesus said to Martha, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!"
- She had become worried and upset by what she was doing for Him.
- Through doing, she had lost sight of Jesus.
- How about you?
- Have you become stressed out by what you are doing...your daily schedule?
- Your job, school, or activities...
- Have things built up and crowded out time with your Savior?
- Serving can be a great thing, but not when it replaces time with God.
- Remember, you are in complete control of your schedule.
- Never let your "Doing" replace "Being"
- It's the same as any relationship...
- For example, I can do a bunch of things for my kids but if I never spend time with them, they will never know me.
- Do you know Him and His ways?
- Have you spent time in His Presence?
- When our service for Him becomes a burden and stress, it's a good sign that things have gotten out of order.
- Matt. 6:33 says, "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."
- Seek Him First.
- It's the "One Thing"
- The most important thing that you could ever do with your life!
- Make spending time with Him a priority!
- Give Him your burdens and stress.
- When you put things in the right order, it will give you a newfound freedom.
- Make that "One Thing" the most important thing today!
- Re-Discover Jesus, today...
- The Person of Jesus...
- Get away with Him.
- Go on a walk and openly talk with Him.
- Share your heart and hear His.
- Give Him time to speak to you.
- Have a great Weekend!
