- “The manna stopped” That part of the verse says it all.
- The verse goes on to say, "the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan."
- The children of Israel had grown accustom to God’s ways.
- For forty years God had provided them with this miraculous food every morning.
- For forty years they had seen God work in this way.
- For forty years they just went out every morning and gathered enough for their family.
- But now things were about to change.
- Change can be a scary thing to some people.
- Change means getting out of your comfort zone.
- Change means different.
- Change means a “shake up”
- But if they were ever going to become the new people that God needed for them to become, change had to happen.
- God had a purpose for the manna.
- They needed to learn and trust during that season.
- Deuteronomy 8:24 says, "So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”
- Now it was time to take what they learned in the "manna season" and activate their faith and use it in the new season.
- They had just crossed the Jordan River
- They had just stepped into the new land that God had promised them.
- They had consecrated themselves fresh and new to God.
- Behind them was the wilderness and the years of wandering.
- Ahead of them were Giants to fight and a city to conquer.
- They had to become a conquering people.
- They had to posses the Promise.
- It was time for a new season.
- In this new season, God was going to work differently than He had in the past.
- They had to trust Him in a new way.
- How about you?
- Are you ready for God’s new season.
- Have you learned from the past?
- Has your character grown in your current season?
- You know, you can’t bring the old you into the new.
- Your faith needs to be strong.
- Your heart needs to be alive with anticipation for the new things that God has.
- You cannot remain the same old you and step into the new season that God has for you.
- The old you…the critical you…the doubting, fearful, complaining you has to stay behind.
- God needs you to trust Him at a whole new level!
- As you go through this test, it will lead to a whole new testimony!
- But it won’t happen without change.
- So hear is the big question, “What, in you, needs to change in order for you to be an overcomer in God’s new season?
- What needs to be left behind?
- Change isn’t easy but its necessary for you to be fully used by God.
- Are you ready?
- God bless you, have a great Monday!
