- This week I am serving with a group of our youth in Winston-Salem NC.
- One of the areas that we are working in, is an community in that was hit by a tornado on May 24th.
- It did a lot of damage and we get an opportunity to show love through our actions.
- You've heard it said, "Actions speak louder than words!"
- It's what you do that counts, not just what you say.
- What do your actions say about how you love?
- We all know that there are some people that are hard to love but that doesn't give us an "out".
- We must love just as Christ loves us.
- Jesus' love was demonstrated on the cross.
- 1John 3:16 says this, "We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters."
- "Give up our lives for our brothers and sister."!
- This is not easy, I know it and you know it!
- We must be willing to die for them...and I'm not talking about physically dying although you can include that if you'd like.
- I'm talking about dying to self!
- Let your mouth die to gossiping about those you should love.
- Let your thoughts die to thinking evil or dwelling on what you would like to say or do to someone.
- Let your emotions die to anger.
- Let your actions die to trying to control others.
- A dead person doesn't hold grudges, or hate or gossip because They Are Dead!
- 1 John 3:15 says "Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them."
- Ouch! That's a tough verse but it should wake us up to the fact that we have no right to hold onto grudges or unforgiveness against anyone.
- Rom. 5:10 says, "For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son."
- Jesus died for you when you were still his enemy...and you can't forgive someone? Sorry, it doesn't work that way!
- We must forgive.
- We must release people from the prisons our minds have held them in.
- Here is the command ...1John 3:23 says, "And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us."
- And here is the promise that comes with the command, "Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us. (1 John 3:24 NLT)
- Unbroken fellowship with God!
- His Spirit living in us gives us the power to forgive and love!
- We can only do it In Him, By Him and Through Him.
- Choose today to Love!
- Choose today to forgive!
- Choose today to live life to the fullest by letting your actions speak!
- Have a Great Wednesday!
"...Let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." (1John 3:18 NLT)
