- ABIDE...
- John 15 repeats the word, "Abide", 8 times
- That must mean that it's pretty important.
- Other words for Abide are "to stay", "Remain", "Dwell", "Tarry", "Wait"
- The word "Abide" is a present imperative word which means it is a continual action.
- You are to continually be in His presence.
- We should continually be getting closer and closer to Jesus
- I liken it to my son Elias who right now wants to be with me at all times, everywhere!
- If I'm going to work- he wants to come, if I'm driving to the store - he quickly puts on his shoes to come with me. If I'm taking out the dog, he will run outside barefoot just to be alongside of me.
- When he can't come, he stands there feeling rejected and cries.
- It's precious...I cherish these times because I know it won't last forever.
- What if we desired to be with Jesus like that?
- NOT, we take Him everywhere, but that we go everywhere He goes...
- Do you see the difference?
- If we take Him everywhere, then He is on our agenda - We Lead.
- But, if we go everywhere He goes then He Leads...we follow.
- He opens the door...we go through.
- It is continually being in His Presence, and the great thing is this - He will never turn you away.
- In Matthew 11:28, He basically says, "Come with me" or "Join me"... Look how it reads, and look at the results...
- “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."
- That sounds pretty good to me
- So why not Remain with Him today
- Hang out with Him today
- Don't just get "A Word" and go on - no - Hang onto that Word and Let it dwell in you!
- Col. 3:16 says, "Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness."
- Abide in Him today and every day!
- Have a great weekend!
