- Elijah had been on the run.
- He had zealously served the LORD God Almighty.
- He had valiantly confronted the 850 prophets of Baal and Asherah on top of Mount Carmel.
- He had seen an incredible display of God's power when God sent down fire from heaven.
- But after a tremendous victory for the Lord we find him depressed, running for his life and hiding in a cave because the Queen Jezebel said she was going to kill him.
- Elijah is a prophet out of place.
- Now God comes to him and says, "what are you doing here?"
- How about you?
- Are you out of place?
- God is asking you this morning, "why are you here?"
- "Here"
- This word is talking about more than a physical location.
- How about spiritually and emotionally?
- Are there things that you are running from that have caused your faith to stagnate?
- Are there situations that you are avoiding because of the fear of confrontation?
- Are you in the place and position that God wants you or are you running from something?
- Are your problems bigger than your solution?
- The good news is that wherever your, "Here" is... God can meet you there.
- Stop for a moment, evaluate your "location" and look for His "presence".
- God wants to bring His presence into your "place".
- When Elijah was hiding in a cave, we find out that God was not happy to just leave Him that way.
- We discover a God who comes running after him.
- The LORD says, ““Go out and stand before me on the mountain,”
- The LORD call Him out (of hiding) and then brings his presence.
- “And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.”
1 Kings 19:12 NLT
- Gods presence came with the gentle whisper.
- When you whisper something, you have to get close.
- Picture this, as God whispers, Elijah gets close.
- Elijah gets closer and closer to Gods presence.
- God helps him to take his eyes off of his problem and put them on the solution.
- God gives him a new perspective.
- That's what His presence does.
- All of your answers are found in Him.
- When His presence is with you, All things are possible!"
- So where are you this morning?
- If you will take the time to linger in His presence you will discover His peace.
- And like Elijah, you may experience God giving you new hope and new vision to accomplish all that He has for your life!
- You will discover a God who is so much greater than any problem you encounter.
- Because God doesn't just show you the solution ... He reveals the He is the solution!
- We discover that “in him we live and move and exist." Acts 17:28
- He is our everything!
- God bless you, have a great Monday!
