- I love how the Message paraphrase reads these verses.
- He says, "keep me from....thinking I can take over your (God's) work.
- What are the things that you are working really hard at, that is not really your work - It's God's.
- Is it a relationship you are trying to fix?
- Is it:
- an emotional wound?
- a physical problem?
- Overcoming an addiction?
- mental instability?
- a lack financially?
- a problem at work or school?
- a family problem?
- STOP!
- Stop for a moment this morning.
- Stop pushing and striving...
- Stop working and investing all of your physical and emotional energy.
- Let Go and Let God.
- Let God be God.
- Beware of trying to take over God's work.
- The results will always be short term and insignificant.
- But with God...
- All things are possible!
- Jesus said in John 15:5, "Apart from me, you can do nothing."
- Nothing of eternal significance can happen without Jesus .
- Without God, you can do nothing. With God there is nothing you cannot do. (Carson Kolhoff)
- Your work should be the work of prayer!
- Trusting in Him and relying on Him.
- Imagine the children of Israel trying to dry up the Red Sea and scoop out all the water so that they would have a way to cross on dry land.
- That's totally ridiculous!
- But so is it when we try to do Gods work in any other area - it's the same thing.
- The writer of this Psalm, David, ends in verse 14 by saying, "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord , my rock and my redeemer."
- He is Your Rock.
- He is your Redeemer.
- You are not!
- Give Him back His work this morning.
- Rest easy in Him today.
- Have a great Thursday!
