- Have you ever wondered what God, our Heavenly Father, is like?
- Look no farther than the parable of the prodigal son.
- A father has two sons and the younger son tells his father, "I want my inheritance, NOW!
- In the culture of the day, it would be the same as saying, "I wish you were dead, because you are only as good as your money."
- There is no value to the relationship.
- There is no honor or respect.
- There is no understanding to what he currently has under the roof of his father.
- It's just complete selfishness and rejection from the son to the father.
- And yet, the first picture that Jesus gives us of our Heavenly Father is that "He agreed" to the sons demands.
- That is how much God values relationship.
- He refuses to control you.
- He won't make you stay.
- Even when he knows that it will cause us hurt and pain.
- He won't make you a robot... he lets you choose.
- He offers you freedom.
- We are the son.
- We are the ones who rarely understand what we have.
- We are the ones who don't always value the safety, protection, forgiveness and healing that is available within A pure relationship with our Heavenly Father.
- Romans 3:23 says, "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
- At some point all of us have said, "My way is better that your way, God" and we walked away. Out from under His protection and covering.
- “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Rom. 5:8)
- God wants to offer you freedom today.
- He values your relationship.
- He wants to pour out His love on you, but He won't force you to love Him back.
- He gives you a choice.
- He gives you the opportunity to respond to His love today.
- Will you choose to love Him back?
- Today, let me encourage you to respond to His love.
- Value what He has for you.
- The best thing you could ever have is a Relationship with Him.
- God bless you, have a great Monday!
"The younger son told his father, ‘I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons. (Luke 15:12)
