- What is your treasure?
- What is most important and valuable to you?
- These words, spoken by Jesus, warn us not to store up and build up all of our Treasures here on earth.
- It's temporary.
- Your treasure can be stuff you own or it can be a position or title.
- It can be an iPhone, a game, a car, a house, a job, a person or simply trying to be accepted by a certain group of people.
- Your treasure is what you have invested your time, thoughts and energy on.
- It's the thing that "Has You"!
- The thing that consumes you.
- It's the thing that you are thinking about first thing in the morning.
- It's the goal you are going after.
- It's your hopes and dreams.
- Just like an Olympic Athlete spends most their life for this one moment in time, investing all of their time and energy for the chance to step on the world stage and have a gold medal placed around their neck.
- They are invested!
- Follow the trail of your time, energy, and thoughts, over the past few days.
- What is the "gold medal" you are going after?
- In the message translation, it puts it like this...
- "It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being." (Matt. 6:20 -21)
- So the bigger question is this, who are you becoming?
- If you continue to invest your time, energy and thoughts on what you currently investing, then what will you "end up being"?
- Is it a good investment?
- What is the outcome of your investment?
- I encourage you to invest on the eternal!
- Invest in what you cannot physically see.
- The Psalmist says in Psalm 119:10, of His relationship with God, "I'm single-minded in pursuit of you;"
- Single Minded... Just like going after that gold.
- Verse 14 says, "I delight far more in what you tell me about living than in gathering a pile of riches."
- Store up, build up and pile up your treasure in God's Kingdom today!
- It's who you will end up becoming!
- Have a great Thursday!
