- This seems pretty simple.
- Jesus had to go from "point A" (Judea) to get to "point B" (Galilee).
- The only problem is that right in the middle was Samaria.
- At that time, no "good Jew" would have anything to do with a Samaritan.
- The Samaritans were a mixed race, they were part Jew & Part Gentile
- The Samaritans grew out of the Assyrian captivity back in 722BC
- They had intermarried with the Assyrians and now after hundreds of years, they could not prove their genealogy.
- They were despised by the Jews because they weren't "Pure Jews" if Jewish at all.
- So for a Jewish person to go from "point A" to "Point B", which was a 70 mile journey, you would have to add "point C" which was a point around Samaria.
- Point C would almost double the journey. It would turn 70 miles into probably 130 miles... on foot!
- That is a huge racial divide.
- In order to avoid something or someone they would walk extra days!
- So when it says that Jesus "Had" to go through Samaria, it means that He had to put an end to this.
- It meant that He was gong to make his disciples address something that they had avoided their whole life.
- And Jesus walks with His disciples right to a place that they had never gone.
- Samaria!
- What is your Samaria?
- It may not be a racial problem but it may be an issue or a person or a situation that you have been avoiding.
- What problem, issue or person do you need to stop avoiding?
- What "place" do you need Jesus to take you "TO" instead of walking "AROUND"
- It's easy to walk around something and to avoid it but the problem is, you will never grow spiritually, if you won't confront.
- You've heard the phrase "No Pain, No Gain"... well it's the same Spiritually and emotionally.
- If you refuse to confront an issue in your life, you will never grow from it.
- What issue, person or situation does Jesus want you to walk towards?
- What situation do you need to confront, that you have been avoiding?
- The great thing about Jesus is that He doesn't want to leave you the way you are.
- He has to take you to the things that you avoid so that you will learn what it means to overcome.
- Today, make the choice to follow Jesus.
- Follow Him wherever He leads.
- Choose to confront the things that you normally avoid!
- Even if it's painful.
- The end result will lead to Spiritual and emotional growth.
- God bless you, have a great Monday!
