(1 Peter 4:11 NIV)
- I saw an amazing thing last week.
- Amidst the hurricane, the damage and the loss of power, I saw the body of Christ come together and serve!
- We served each other and we served in the community.
- Those who "had", helped those who "had not".
- Air conditioners were shared.
- Generators were share.
- Water was shared.
- Gas was shared.
- Food, clothing and homes were shared.
- Our house was full each night for people to use showers, share food, enjoy the air conditioning and even find some relief from the heat in our pool.
- Kids played together and people laughed together.
- We worked hard all day helping people and then came together at night to enjoy each other's company.
- It wasn't something that was forced, it was something that came out of being the Body of Christ.
- It reminded me of Acts 2:44-45 where it says, “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.”
- Serving is a beautiful thing!
- And when you serve, it creates something.
- It creates a new heart.
- Serving gives you a new attitude and it builds and strengthens relationships.
- You begin to look a lot like Jesus when you serve.
- 1 Peter 4 says, "If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides..."
- You may not think you have much to offer but when you begin to use the little that you have, you will begin to experience the power of God adding to what you "have not".
- Today, use the little gifts that you have to serve those around you even if it is inconvenient.
- Then, as you serve, watch Philippians 4:19 become a reality. It says, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
- Begin to serve and use the gifts that God has given you.
- Then, just as you think you have used all that you have, you watch God fill you with His power and His ability which far exceeds your ability!
- Serve someone today!
- Have a great Monday!
