(PSALM 90:12 AMP)
- Last night we lost a dear friend and church family member, Donald Treiber.
- He had a very quick battle with cancer.
- Donald would not be considered rich by the worlds standard but He was definitely rich in the Lord.
- He had a servants heart and was always willing to help.
- He definitely loved God and loved serving others.
- His passing got me thinking on this scripture.
- A really good prayer for us to pray would be, "Lord, teach me to number my days!"
- Our days on earth are few when compared to eternity.
- James 4:14 says, “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”
- Your life is simply a vapor or a mist when compared to eternity.
- So why are we so consumed with these temporary things when we should be investing in eternity?
- Matthew 6:33 says for us to "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
- It doesn't say to seek after all that you can accomplish here on the earth first!
- It doesn't say to try and accumulate all the wealth and recognition, for the "right here and now", first.
- It says seek first the "kingdom of God"
- Here's how the Message paraphrase puts it, “Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met."
- Steep yourself in God Reality!
- Think about how powerful that is!
- Think about your life and what you are investing your time and energy in.
- What are the things you are doing right now, that in reality is useless and pointless.
- Today, be intentional and invest in the eternal!
- You could invest in this little, vapor of a life, or you could invest in eternity!
- Reach out and share Jesus with someone today.
- Touch some bodies life by encouraging them today.
- Extend a hand to someone.
- Speak hope and vision into someone's life who is filled with doubt and discouragement.
- Be a prophetic voice today, to someone who can't even manage to take the next step forward.
- Be Jesus' hands and feet, today.
- Today, make every minute and second count.
- It will count for eternity!
- Pray, "Lord teach me to number my days" and watch the opportunities that He places in front of you.
- God bless you! Have a great Wednesday.
