shepherd for my people Israel.” Matthew 2:6 (NLT)
- Micah the prophet, prophesied 700 years before the Messiah was born (Micah 5:2) the birthplace of the Messiah.
- It was a small, humble village, yet it was the birthplace of King David.
- Why such a little town?
- Why such humble beginnings?
- God loves to take the seemingly insignificant and place His mark of significance on it!
- In 1Corinthians 1:27, the Apostle Paul says, "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. (28) God chose the things of this world that are common and looked down on. God chose things considered unimportant to do away with things considered important.”
- Let me ask you something, have you ever felt unimportant, common, or ordinary?
- If you said, “Yes” then that’s great, because you are the kind of material that God likes to work with.
- He doesn’t need your pride.
- He doesn’t need human wisdom or confidence in self.
- Just like the little town of Bethlehem, God chooses the small and ordinary, so that no one can boast before Him and say, “Look what I did.”
- God doesn’t need people telling Him how it should be done and then asking Him to bless it.
- God needs those who don’t know “How” or “Why”
- Those who can say, like young Mary the mother of Jesus, “Let it be to me according to your Word”.
- An angel had just appeared to he and told her that she would give birth to the Messiah.
- Mary’s response was to surrendered herself to the will of God.
- The fact is, God can use anyone he chooses, anytime He chooses, Anywhere He wants.
- Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere!
- Is that you?
- Do you believe that you are insignificant enough for God to use?
- Can you say, “Here am I God, use me!”
- Can you say, "God, place your mark of significance on me.”?
- You will never be fulfilled when you try to gain your significance through people, achievements or what you can do.
- But, You will be ultimately fulfilled when you let God direct you and guide you.
- When you allow Him to speak significance into your life.
- When you surrender to Him and His Word.
- Today, let Him speak His significance into your ordinary life.
- If God can do it with a humble, little town, then God can do it where you are.
- If God can accomplish His plan with a young insignificant girl like Mary, then He can use you.
- Why not YOU?
- Why not HERE?
- Why not NOW?
- Have a great Friday!
