- Peace
- Did you experience Peace this Christmas?
- Or was your Christmas filled with a lot of craziness and business?
- A lot of rushing around but not actually described as Peaceful.
- If you are going to experience true Peace, then you have to embrace the Prince of Peace, His name is Jesus!
- In Isaiah 9:6, 700 years before He was even born, His name was prophesied. It says, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
- He is the Prince of Peace.
- This comes from 2 Hebrew words. Sar and Shalom.
- Sar means The one in charge, Lord or General.
- The word Shalom means, rest, tranquility, wholeness and completeness.
- When you put these 2 words together, you have “The Lord of Rest” or “The one in charge of wholeness”
- It’s not just a name, it’s a person!
- That’s why you will never experience true peace unless you embrace The Prince of Peace.
- It’s not just Peace that He brings, it’s a person you encounter.
- Some have described peace as “The absence of war”, but do you know that you can have the absence of something and still not have peace?
- Peace is not the absence of something, it’s the “presence of someone”
- The presence of Jesus
- In Matthew 2, the Angels appeared to the Shepherds, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
- They said, “peace to men”
- This means that your world does not have to be peaceful in order for you to experience peace.
- Your world can be filled with chaos and in the middle of the chaos, you can experience and bring His Peace…Wholeness and completeness.
- That’s how Jesus can say in John 16:33, “In Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
- You will never experience real peace outside of Jesus.
- There are plenty of substitutes out there trying to tell you that they will bring peace.
- “Buy this” they say, and it will bring you peace.
- “Own this” and you will have peace.
- "Get accepted" by this person and you will have peace.
- But there is only one, true “Prince of Peace”
- And the type of wholeness and completeness that He brings is only found in a relationship with Him.
- That’s why you will see the phrase “No Jesus, No peace”; “Know Jesus, Know Peace”
- I pray that this year you truly take the time to slow down and Know Peace.
- Embrace Him and experience Him and be filled with peace.
- Let the Lord of wholeness and completeness transform and change your life.
- God bless you!
- Have a great Tuesday!
