- Is God asking you to do something different than you expected?
- During this last week of our 21 days of fasting and praying, do you have certain expectations of God?
- Expectations like, How He is going to answer.
- When He is going to answer.
- The Way He is going to answer.
- Did you expect Him to work one way only to find Him working another way?
- Allow yourself to be humble and find healing.
- Find Victory His way!
- In 2 Kings 5 we have the story of a great commander of the Aram army, Naaman.
- Naman's problem was that he had leprosy - an incurable skin disease that he would eventually die from.
- Naman had heard about the great prophet of Israel, Elisha and went to visit him, in order to be healed.
- 2Kings5:10 says, "Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy.”
- The Jordan River was a dirty river and definitely not a river that a respected, dignified commander would expect to find healing.
- Listen to Naaman's response in verse 11, "Naaman became angry and stalked away. “I thought he would certainly come out to meet me!” he said. “I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and call on the name of the Lord his God and heal me!
- I love the phrase "I expected him to..."
- He expected one thing but was told to do something totally different.
- Naaman could have let his pride and his expectations keep him from Gods blessing and healing.
- But Naaman's wise officers were able to talk him into it by saying, "...you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!’” (2 Kings 5:13 NLT)
- When Naaman dipped seven times in the Jordan his skin was healed.
- Not only did the skin disease leave his body but so did his pride.
- When Naaman put down his pride and his way he found healing...both physical and spiritual.
- He humbled himself, and then God healed.
- He had to be willing to say, “my way is not best.”
- "God has something better in store for me."
- He found God and he found redemption.
- Could that be you?
- What are your expectations today?
- Will you let God exceed your expectations?
- What do you need to get rid of in order to follow His way?
- Do you need to get rid of pride or your plans?
- Can you take a step into the unknown and unexpected?
- When you follow His way, you will always get far more than you ever expected!
- 1 Cor. 2:9 says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him."
- Simply, love Him and follow Him.
- Prepare yourself to get more that you ever expected!
- Have a great Tuesday!
