(1 Samuel 16:1)
- In this verse God is up to something new but He needs to get the attention of His Prophet Samuel to see what He is up to.
- The first King of Israel, Saul, had not followed Gods instructions completely.
- King Saul was the "People's Choice".
- The People's Choice had partially obeyed the Lord but not fully obeyed.
- Partial obedience is simply disobedience.
- But now we find Samuel moping over the failed leadership of King Saul.
- When God is up to something new, He will always come and reveal Himself and His ways to those who are paying attention.
- God gives Samuel some clear instructions in this verse.
- First, God says, "how long are you going to mope over Saul?"
- Basically God says, "Get Over it!"
- If you are going to do all that God has for you to do, you've got to "Get Over" your past.
- Its time to be alert and pay attention...God has more for you!
- Your past is not your future.
- Maybe you've had disappointments or failures in your past but if you are consumed with a failure, your failure will consume you.
- Today, you've got to Get over it!
- If you don't get your eyes off of yesterday, you will never be able to see what God wants to do today.
- Psalm 30:5 says, "...Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
- It's morning time, and morning always represents an opportunity for new!
- If You are ever going to join God in His new thing, you must get over the last thing.
- In Isaiah 43:18, God says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?"
- Can you see the new thing that God has for you?
- Here's the key, don't look backwards, look forwards.
- Ask God to help you to see what he sees.
- Look up and over the problems of the past, because today God has something new!
- It's a new day with new opportunities...can you see them?
- God bless you!
- Have a great Wednesday!
